JUVENILE & ADULT

We have classes to suit a wide range of dogs (and humans) of any age: No one is too old to enjoy learning! Please see list below.

All dogs are assessed before joining any of these 'older dog' courses, unless we have known them from puppyhood. This gives us chance to foresee and plan for any possible problems like anxiety or over-exuberance.

Most likely, we'll meet in a 1:1 session so we have an understanding of the dog and have had chance to show the family how we approach training. Often, there will have been a couple of week's work done at home on the relationship and some basic training techniques, before the dog joins the class. We find this makes the first lesson so much more relaxed and enjoyable.

Please contact us to discuss which will suit your dog, and for venues, start dates, price and booking forms.

 (1) The INAN range of courses for dogs who'd say "I'm Not Always Nice"

INAN… TOD (To Other Dogs), TP (to people), TJ (to joggers) , TL (to livestock)........

all designed to help dogs change their behaviour to something acceptable, using skill, intelliegence, understanding, we get dogs to relax and choose to 'be nice'!! Please call for details and to discuss your dog's needs

(2) There are STARTER courses for any dog who needs to be shown or reminded of the basics. Popular with the older pup from 5 months-ish, rescue dogs and older dogs who have had little or no training,

(3) Following on from Puppy Course ADVANCED PUPPY is an outside class in the training field, developing the basic training and socialisation skills and taking pup through the challenging time of adolescence! Lots of work with distractions, greeting behaviours etc.

'IMPROVER' range of courses include :

(4) G.O.M.O...Good Manners And Obedience various levels outdoors in the training field or on the common, quite a structured class including close walking, recall, waits, controlled greetings, emergency downs etc etc ...with distractions!

(5) F.D.R.W Four Dogs, Real World With only 4 dogs in each session, we can offer very individualised and concentrated training; walking on common, practicing good manners to other walkers (inc. not jumping up) and to dogs and livestock; recall away from dogs/ people; on and off lead walking; ignoring distractions, etc etc. Ironing out those un-desirable behaviours which dogs may have in the Real World. Any age/breed (dogs will need to have done a 1:1 or previous Hamble Hounds course before joining FDRW)

(6) H’EINSTEIN HOUNDS tricks and clever stuff, indoors. Teach dog to steal policemen's helmet (especially for PG Wodehouse fans ), teach LEAVE, find keys, empty washing machine, sneeze, whatever you want (except ironing, dogs won't do that!) and tune up obedience at the same time.

CLICKER TRAINING We encourage use of the (very effective) ‘clicker’ training method in all classes. We hold demonstrations from time to time, and teach this method on a one to one basis and in some classes.
